Randy Gloss, a percussionist whose background performing several modalities of hand drums, contemporary percussion, and drum set has led to his involvement in many innovative ensembles that fuse world music with new music and jazz. Most notable is the Hands On'Semble, a percussion quartet devoted to the art of hand drumming led by renowned percussionist/ composer John Bergamo.

The Hands On'Semble's self titled debut CD features guest performances by tabla maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri and Grammy nominated mridangist Poovalur Srinivasan. The CD has been called "Masterful" (Modern Drummer), "An excellent recording for listeners who wish to hear the full spectrum of musical sounds available from hand drums from around the world" (Percussive Notes), "Our favorite new frame drumming CD!" The Hands On'Semble has performed around the United States, Brazil, and Europe and has worked with master percussionists Swapan Chaudhuri, Poovalur Srinivasan, Glen Velez, Jamey Haddad, Steve Shehan, and Mark Nauseef.

In addition to the (Hands On'Semble) Randy has worked extensively with South Indian percussionist Poovalur Srinivasan as a member of his group Thanjavur, and on projects featuring musical phenomenon Chitravina Ravikiran, and master frame drummer Glen Velez.

Randy Gloss has performed at: the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC), the World Festival of Sacred Music Ð the Americas, Ritmos de Terra in Campinas Brazil, World Drum Festival in Hamburg Germany, the L.A. Philharmonic1s new music series "The Green Umbrella", the Seattle Rhythm Festival, Watts Tower Day of the Drum Festival, and the College Music Journal Convention in N.Y.C.

Randy Gloss can be heard on recordings of Lou Harrison, pan flute virtuoso Damian, film soundtracks by composers Danny Elfman and Gary Chang, and has recorded music for the American Conservatory Theater.

Randy teaches at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), and is active as a clinician teaching various hand drum styles and techniques. Randy Gloss endorses Remo drums and percussion.
